Board Certified Counselor | Nampa, Idaho

About Bonnie K Benson

I work with children who may be having difficulty with ongoing family changes/divorce, trauma, behavioral and social problems at home or school. I work with adults who may be experiencing depression, anxiety, Bipolar Disorder, transitions, relationship concerns, divorce, grief and loss issues. I also enjoy helping parents hone their parenting strategies and techniques and I offer parent consultations. Clients who seek me as their counselor find someone they can easily connect with, feel accepted and understood by, so that they may make decisions based on informed choices, and find solutions.

I offer Sand Tray/Sandplay Therapy for children, adolescents and adults. I offer play therapy for children ages 5-12. Art based approaches, experiential methods such as: visual journaling, magazine photo collages, use of modeling clay, mask making, and drawing to name a few. I am open to using other approaches that a client is comfortable with. I am a Love & Logic Certified Instructor. The best things I have learned have been from clients!

Clients I have worked with tell me I'm grounded, calm and that I created a safe space for them to express themselves. Together, we work to validate current feelings and thoughts, create a vision for future changes and discuss goals the client wants to achieve during our time together. I do offer a free 30 minute, in person counseling consultation.
